Monte Ucia
On the mast of the radio station at the top of the mountain, Ernesto, Alberto and I put up two solar-powered repeaters for mesh radio networks. They cover a good part of the Po Valley.
since 2024I study electronic engineering in Brescia, Italy. I’m a radio amateur and I volunteer on radio communications for Civil Protection. I build things with radio, electronics and servers.

Some for work, many for someone who needed them, all of them to learn something. Each project has its own story, with photos of how it went.

since 2024A radio network for finding people where phones have no signal. I co-founded it, and I built the device software, the repeaters, the servers and the app.
since 2024A video about sending messages without the internet turned into a group of nearly a thousand people building LoRa radio networks: guides, an evening at the club and lots of new repeaters.
since 2025I pick up the signal from weather balloons, follow where they come down and sometimes go and fetch them.
since 2023A cheap USB stick, a Raspberry Pi and an antenna on the balcony in Crema: a station that listens from shortwave up to the 1090 MHz of aircraft, and that I control from anywhere with a browser.
since 2024A tower for growing small plants without soil, 3D-printed and watered by a timer on an ESP32, and then a controller that waters the balcony plants, with a web page and Telegram alerts.
since 2024A Raspberry Pi that joins the student residence’s WiFi on its own, past the login page, and turns it into a network socket and a WiFi of my own: to the network it is a single device.
October 2026Three solar-powered stations that measure the weather and send everything by radio to a server. My first project with LoRa networks.
2024An afternoon in the garden with a spectrum analyser, comparing antennas one at a time.
2026A portable air conditioner without a timer, an infrared remote to copy and a small six-euro gadget: I switch it on from my phone ten minutes before I get home, and the room is already cool.
June 2026An office PC that’s always on in a corner of the house: my files, photos, films, home automation and a small AI model that never leaves the house.
since 2023

I’m easily moved and I love meeting people: at radio meetups, at fairs, on top of a mountain, anywhere there’s someone with a radio in hand and a story to tell.
Every one of my projects has taught me something. I like understanding how things work all the way down, and then making them work for real, outside, in the cold and the rain.
If you meet me at a radio meetup, I’ve probably got a radio in my pocket and an antenna in my backpack. I’m open to collaborations, projects and work.
I design mesh radio networks: coverage, antennas, how much airtime every message takes. I hold an amateur radio licence and I measure what I install.
Firmware for nRF52840 and ESP32 microcontrollers, prototypes with Arduino and Raspberry Pi, basic circuit boards, electrical wiring and home automation.
I put services into production on Linux and keep them running, with Docker, databases and MQTT. I write and review code, with help from AI too.
